Baia Maru

16 October 2012

The wind did change today!

I crossed Rumania on a local train which stopped at every little station as we trundled through rolling hills and farm land. Out of the window, I got a glimpse of rural life in action; harvesting maize, ploughing corn stubble, picking berries, stacking corn hobs. There were areas of rolling prairie land grazed by sheep with shepherds walking behind them. In this part of Rumania the farmers also use horse drawn carts.

I stopped for the night in a town on the northern border with Slovakia. Bars were full of football fans watching a Rumanian game and it started to rain. The first heavy lasting rain I have seen for months.
