The journey back to Lagos involved a classic African waiting game at a motor depot. in Iyaro Motor Park. The 18 seater minibus eventually left at 12:00 noon costing 13,000N.

I’d waited three hours for the minibus to fill and to be loaded with all the luggage. The journey was smooth though, and I eventually was dropped off close to Berger Motor Park after travelling for six hours.

Back at Hotel Capitol I got a room for 20,000N and prepared to leave Nigeria for the Cameroon. Despite all the warnings I’d received about coming to the country, I’d found everything accessible and all people extremely friendly and helpful. The lack of cash and ability to use my credit card to pay for anything, was very problematic. This limited my ability to stay in the country for long. I also took note of all travel warnings and stayed in the areas close to Lagos. Having explored these thoroughly, I found I was ready to move on after a two week stay. I had chosen not to venture north to Abuja and Kano, and to avoid travelling overland to the Cameroon border.
