Ranomafana

I stopped at the hill top based town of Ambositra and the transport hub of Fianrantsoa. Travelling is slow, in local minibuses and full of adventures. It provides a magical snapshot into life on the island.

Ranomafana was the first National Park that I visited. Here I was able to get a first close glimpse of lemurs and the vast variety of endemic plant and tree species. In the small town there was evidence of the old colonial French hot spring baths and villas, now providing a stopping off place for local tourists and residents.
