Dakhla

27 October 2022

I am staying in a hotel in the administrative part of the city which feels safe and sedate. There are restaurants and other hotels along this stretch of the peninsula.

When I ventured into the old town this afternoon the atmosphere seemed different; run down, edgy and more people than normal asking for money and food.

I'd planned to stay longer in Dakhla but found little to do apart from walking the streets, saying hello to the priest at the Spanish Catholic Church and strolling along the promenade. I decided to book a bus ticket to the border for tomorrow and enjoy the rest of my time here by the sea.

In the evening, I found a lovely little place to eat seafood and joined two women for this shared dinner.
