Casablanca

13 October 2022

I spent today roaming around Casablanca getting to know its layout, old town, sea front and incredible architecture, much of which is crumbling and shabby and tells a fascinating historical story.

So... here are some snap shots:

Walking through the modern developments on the sea front.

Taking in the views of the Hassan II Mosque, the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest minaret at 210 metres.

Finding examples of 1920s buildings still standing and in use throughout the eastern section of the city.

Seeing the impressive work about to start on renovating the Lincoln Hotel. The old façade has been kept, the rest of the old hotel demolished ready for a new build and branded by Radissons.

Eating a fabulous fish lunch for 35DM in a back street. Freshly cooked from today's catch.

Spending the evening with a BSN colleague, catching up and sharing dinner together in the down town area of the city.
