The Hotanese were supposed to have uncovered the secret of silk making in the 5th century

They then later established themselves as the leaders of carpet making in the area. I spent today driving round the village areas to see the silk and carpet making in action. It was incredible to see the time and effort that goes into making these products and how these century old traditional crafts are still continuing to this day
